Want more powerful drives?
Tip of the day
Today’s video teaches how to add power to your forehand drive.
First, know that this shot is not just about hitting the ball hard to win the point right away.
Instead, it's about making it tough for the other team so you can get a better shot next.
The instructor, Barrett, shows where to aim the drive for the best results, such as at someone who is moving or who is not good at handling drives.
Keep your shoulders relaxed, use your legs to push off the ground for power, keep your wrist straight, and hit the ball so it has a little arc.
Barrett also recommends practicing without the ball to get the movement right.
Then, add the ball, turning your body as one piece, and moving your feet to hit the ball well from different spots.
There's also a special tip for stronger drives by moving your hips forward as you swing.
Key Points:
The forehand drive helps make your next shot easier, not just win the point straight away.
Aim your drive at someone moving or not good with handling drives.
Keep your body loose, use your legs for power, and hit the ball so it goes up slightly.
Practice the shot step by step, starting without the ball and then adding more components of your swing.
For more power, focus on using your hip and core.
