Tired of hitting out balls?

Tip of the day

One of the biggest mistakes in pickleball is hitting balls that would have gone out.

In this video, pickleball coach Kyle Koszuta Pickleball explains how to judge whether a shot is going out and when to let it go.

A good rule of thumb is that if a ball is coming at you above chest height near the baseline, it’s likely to land out.

When unsure, use the “two-inch rule” by letting the ball drop and seeing if it stays in the air longer than expected.

Kyle also stresses the importance of trusting your instincts and practicing this skill to build confidence.

By mastering this technique, you’ll avoid unnecessary mistakes and win more points without swinging your paddle.

Key Points:

  • High, deep shots above chest level near the baseline will likely go out.

  • Use the two-inch rule to judge if a ball stays in the air long enough to land out.

  • Trust your instincts and avoid hitting questionable shots.
