Mastering the transition zone by High Five Pickleball
The transition zone, often called "No Man's Land," is the space between the baseline and the non-volley zone.
Players often struggle here, but you can move confidently from the baseline to the net with the right strategy.
Adam emphasizes the importance of reading your own shot, positioning yourself correctly, and staying patient.

Key Points:
After hitting, observe the trajectory and height of your shot. This helps anticipate if your opponent will attack or if you've neutralized them.
If you expect an attack, stop and use a split step—a small hop that gets you in an athletic stance. This prepares you to defend effectively.
When expecting a low shot, bend your knees and lower your paddle. This position helps in defending shots aimed at your feet.
Use an open paddle face and prefer the backhand for wider coverage. Aim to take shots out of the air rather than after a bounce for better control.
After defending, aim to hit a shot in the opponent's non-volley zone. This allows you to move closer to the net safely.
