Mastering the backhand flick! 👋
Tip of the day
Today’s video is all about mastering the backhand flick, an important offensive shot every intermediate and advanced player needs.
Tanner stresses the importance of standing a little sideways when preparing to hit this shot.
This helps your shoulder, core, and legs work together when you hit the ball.
Keeping your elbow up and your wrist bent is key for adding speed and spin to the ball.
The flick has two main moves: first, you stretch your arm out, and then you quickly roll your wrist over for extra power and spin.
They show you these steps in the video.
Remember, don't turn your body too early, and keep your body tight and ready when hitting the ball.
Tanner also talks about the right way to get ready, with your elbow up and wrist bent, and how to move toward the ball instead of stretching too far to hit it.
Key Points:
Body Positioning: Stand slightly sideways so you’re using your shoulder, core, and leg strength.
Elbow and Wrist Mechanics: Keep the elbow up and wrist cocked for power and spin.
Two-Part Motion: Combine a straight motion with a roll-over for effective flicks.
Core Engagement: Maintain a tight core throughout the shot for added power.
Adjusting Position: Avoid overreaching; adjust your position (by moving your feet!) to the ball for an effective flick.
