Break Ankles with the Drip! Aggressive Third Shot Drop MASTERCLASS by The Flying Pickle Academy

This video features pickleball pro Susannah Barr, who teaches how to hit an aggressive third shot drop, sometimes called a "drip" or "ankle breaker."

Susannah explains that this shot is difficult to defend because it combines elements of a drive and a drop, making it drop quickly over the net.

She emphasizes that you need to add topspin and pace to the shot for it to "drip" over the net and get right at your opponent's feet.

Key technique involves dropping your paddle head, getting low with your legs, and accelerating at the contact point.

Footwork is also crucial, as you need to get yourself into a balanced position to hit an accurate ball.

For backhand aggressive drops, Susannah suggests it's easier with a two-handed grip to generate topspin.

The goal of this aggressive third shot is to hit the ball low over the net, aiming right for your opponent's feet or the kitchen line.

Susannah concludes by noting that this shot is designed to put a lot of pressure on opponents from a third shot position, forcing a popup that your partner can poach.
