Where should you hit your drops?

Tip of the day

In today’s video, you'll learn how to hit better drop shots.

The instructor shares the top five spots to aim your drop shots to make it harder for your opponents.

First, aim behind the opponent at the net to catch them off guard.

Also, try targeting the weaker player to draw out mistakes, but aim for the stronger player during casual games to boost your skills.

Hitting the middle is a safe bet because it limits opponents' return angles.

Dropping the shot at the returner's feet can put them in a tricky spot, especially if they're still moving towards the net.

The best spot, however, is the inside leg of the opponent who just returned the ball, making it tough for them to return a backhand shot.

Key Points:

  • Aim drop shots behind the net player or at the returner's inside leg for effective plays.

  • Target the middle to reduce opponents' return angles.

  • Choose your drop shot target based on the game context—go for the weaker player in matches but the stronger one in practice games.

  • Practice these strategies to enhance your game and transition smoothly to the net.
