How to become a Lob Master! ☄️
And a review of the Bread & Butter Filth, one of the hottest new paddles
Tip of the Day
Mastering defensive lobs by Zane Navratil
Zane Navratil explains that a lob can be a great technique to recover when you are on defense.
The key to a good lob is its depth. Hitting the lob so that it lands deep in your opponent’s court is what you should focus on most.
Why? Well, if your opponent hits an overhead from near the baseline, the ball will slow down by the time it gets to you, giving you plenty of time to react. This isn’t true for overheads hit from the kitchen line. This is why depth is important!
Zane suggests a drill where you start a few feet behind the kitchen line and work on lifting your paddle upwards to execute the lob. Hit to the sky!
Again, focus on hitting the lob so it bounces near your opponent’s baseline.
Backup in the court as you progress so that you’re eventually hitting lobs from your own baseline to your opponent’s baseline.

Key Points:
The depth of the lob is crucial!
Keep your paddle out in front and push forwards and upwards for a good lob.
Practice the lob from different positions on the court to get a feel for it. Back up as you feel more comfortable with the shot.

Bread & Butter Filth Pickleball Paddle Review by To Pickleball & Beyond
Vino and Ryan from To Pickleball & Beyond praise the Bread & Butter Filth for its high performance and build quality.
The spin and pop off the paddle are great. It also excels at control for resets and drops, but it’s not as powerful for groundstrokes and drives.
They think it’s well-rounded, with a good balance of control and power, but it does can a bit of time to get used to, given its unique sound and feel.
